PSAT Wins, 300 Hard Math Questions, and a Fresh Look for Gauntlet

Students are already reporting PSAT scores, and I couldn’t be prouder of our students. Several of them earned perfect math scores and near-perfect verbal scores this fall, which is a huge accomplishment considering the PSAT keeps getting tougher.

I want to give a special shoutout to RC, who scored a 1510 on the PSAT. That result comes right on the heels of her raising her SAT score by 100 points in October, so she’s had an incredible month. I’m really proud of the work she’s put in, and it’s paying off.

If you took the PSAT, I’d love to hear how it went, so reply and let me know. You can check last year's NMSQT cutoffs here. Some schools are still giving the PSAT this week, and I’ll be posting a PSAT vocab list very soon for anyone who’s preparing for November and December SATs.

Hint, Hint – I'm already getting feedback that several of our official SAT vocab list words showed up on the PSAT. I hope you've been studying them!

What’s New on Gauntlet

I’ve been a little quiet lately because we’ve been putting the finishing touches on the 2027 edition of the Gauntlet vocabulary book. We’ve also added 150 hard second-module questions to the Gauntlet math bank, which brings it to 300 total very hard questions. If you work through those, you’ll be ready for anything the SAT can throw at you.

We’ve also upgraded the student interface on Gauntlet, and it’s launching tonight, so keep an eye out for it when you log in. Here's a little sneak peak of the new, simplified dashboard:

On top of that, we’ve been filling out the math drill bank with new problem-solving and statistics questions. If those are areas where you’ve been losing points, now’s a great time to check them out.

A Little Time Off

My wife and I have been working hard this season, so we took a day trip down to Gasparilla Island. It felt like walking back in time, and we enjoyed a bike ride and the view from the top of the lighthouse. This weekend we’re heading to Asheville, North Carolina, to try to catch the last of the fall colors. After that, I’ll be back for the final week before the November 7th SAT.

Get your reps in on Gauntlet, and let’s keep grinding.

Mr. John
