August 2026 SAT Scores Are Coming In

Dear MJTP families,

August SAT scores came out today. I have received a handful of emails this morning, and I want to share what came back. If I haven't heard from you, please reach out to support@mrjohnstestprep.com. Good or bad. Let's chat.

For those who missed it, I discussed on Instagram recently why score reports are important, but shouldn't get you down:

The gains

A handful of students moved 40 to 60 points on Reading and Writing. Several of them climbed out of the 670s and into the 730s. Some of that movement came after only two or three sessions, which is astonishing.

When a student is already sitting at 670, the solution isn't "more questions." The solution is the minute strategies that we practice in each session – proper reading comprehension to find the right details, doing our "if-then" statements, finding the traps with PROVE-IT. Those are the ticket to success on the SAT verbal section, and I'm thrilled to hear many of you succeeded in August with using a proper process.

The air gets thin above 700. Every point up there is harder to earn than the one before it. So keep pushing.

Dylan: 1400 to 1510

Dylan came in at a 1400. She walked out of the August SAT with a 1510.

Here is the email, exactly as she sent it:

She worked through the Gauntlet — flashcards, quizzes, the whole course of study — and it delivered results where she needed it most.

Recent updates to Bright Futures in Florida

For Florida families, this is not just a number to post. Bright Futures runs on the test score.

Right now, Florida Academic Scholars — the award that covers 100 percent of tuition and fees at a Florida public university — requires a 1330 SAT. Florida Medallion Scholars, which covers 75 percent, requires an 1190.

Both bars are going up. Starting with the Class of 2028, Florida Academic Scholars moves to 1350 and Florida Medallion Scholars moves to 1200.

If you are a junior or a sophomore right now, that is your line. Plan for it.

The fall calendar is already here

Don't get comfortable. The runway is short.

The next SAT is September 12, which is next Saturday. The October 3 SAT is three weeks after that. It's the last realistic date for most early-application deadlines.

Check your registration deadlines this week. Late fees and closed test centers are avoidable problems.

But first, rest

It is Labor Day weekend. Take it if you can.

Sleep in. Get off the screens. Eat something your grandmother would approve of.

Come back next week, and we will get to work.

Follow along on Instagram at @mrjohnstestprep and on TikTok at @mrjohnstestprep.

Keep grinding.
