October 2025 SAT Scores Are Out — Let’s Go!

Good morning MJTP families!

This morning marks the College Board’s October 4th SAT score release. Early reports from test day described it as an extremely difficult exam — slightly different in format, heavy on science passages, and front-loaded with hard questions in the second module. It’ll be interesting to see how the curve plays out and whether that “harder test = better curve” theory holds up.

Remember, the key to success on tests like these is focusing on strong process and accuracy on the easier questions — the hard ones tend to take care of themselves if you’ve done that.

It’s been a busy testing season! We had great results from the August SAT, and we’re right in the middle of school-day SATs and PSATs. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a little dip in scores this round, but I’m still hopeful — and proud of how hard everyone’s been working.

Wins Being Reported!

I'm already hearing some promising reports coming from a few students, despite the difficulty of the test.

👏
Congrats to A.M. for increasing her score by another 20 points and locking in that tough 700 verbal level! That's 90 points from our first lesson together!

Kudos to M.D. for jumping from a 660 to 710 on the SAT verbal section on a super tough test! He also increased his math score with my colleague Abigail Connick for a total increase of 70 points.

J.P. also got back to me with a solid 40-point boost and plans to take the November exam to keep his momentum going.

G.B. climbed another 20 points to a 690. That's 140 points from her first practice test!

As I always say, the outcome will take care of itself. Our focus is process, process, process.

A few quick updates:

  • Travel notice: I’ll be traveling this weekend and next, so any Sunday sessions will need to be rescheduled. Thanks to all who have already rescheduled from this Sunday. I need to do the same for the 26th. I’ll have weekday evening slots open, so let’s shift things there if possible. (My wife and I are taking a much-needed weekend getaway this weekend!)
  • College essays: I’m loving the stories coming in for UT Austin, Stanford, Berkeley, Villanova, Boston University, and more. If you need last-minute feedback, editing, or brainstorming help, don’t hesitate to reach out!
  • Personal note: My wife and I just finished moving last weekend — it’s been a hectic stretch! Thanks so much for your patience as we’ve settled in. I hope it hasn’t disrupted scheduling too much.

As we look ahead to the November and December SATs, let’s keep our heads up. Some tests just seem tougher than others — that’s part of the process and the natural ebb and flow of SAT season. Whether your score is where you want it to be or not, take it in stride and keep grinding. We’ve got two more rounds this semester, and plenty of opportunities to finish strong.

Let me know how you did — I can’t wait to hear!

Mr. John
