SAT Pep Talk for Tomorrow’s Test (October 4th)

SAT Pep Talk for Tomorrow’s Test (October 4th)

Dear MJTP Families,

Tomorrow is the October 4th SAT, and for those of you signed up, I want to leave you with a quick pep talk and reminder.

First and foremost: Status quo.

Nothing changes tomorrow. If you’ve been working with me, taking practice tests, or sitting for official SATs, you already know the patterns. The same strategies, the same PROVE-IT answer checks, and the same habits we’ve drilled will apply. Yes, the words and passages may look new—but the patterns never change.

Remember, it should be boring.

As an amateur stock trader, I've come across some sage advice through the years. One of my favorites is this one: “Good trading should be boring.” The SAT is the same way. If you’re anxiously searching for something new or scared that this test is "harder" than the last one, you’ll lose sight of the fact that it’s the same puzzle pieces repeating themselves.

Trust your process, trust your preparation, and remind yourself—you already know how to tackle every type of question.

A couple of key reminders for test day:

  1. Make sure your hardware and software are ready.
Have your laptop charged and do a fresh login on Bluebook tonight to ensure you have the latest software. Bring your charging cable tomorrow.
  2. Get some exercise in the morning.
I know it’s early, but 20 minutes of movement before you head out is like a cheat code for your brain. It wakes you up, gets you sharp, and sets the tone for focus. DO NOT NEGLECT THIS.
  3. Do a light review tonight or tomorrow morning.
Many of you have those Google Docs we’ve built together—full of tough questions, examples, and patterns. They’re structured in a linear way so you can run through them quickly and efficiently. Give them a look, remind yourself of the traps, and lock in your confidence.
  4. Sleep matters.
Get to bed early tonight so you don’t start the day tired. A calm, rested mind performs best.

Above all—trust your training, trust your process. You’ve put in the work. Tomorrow is simply execution. I’ll be rooting for each of you, and I can’t wait to hear how it goes!

Best of luck,
Mr. John
