PSAT Scores Are Arriving + Nov 8 SAT + National Merit Selection Index Calculator
Dear MJTP Parents,
PSAT scores are now beginning to roll in! Students who tested earlier in October are starting to see their results become available through the College Board.
You can check your student’s score by having them:
- Log in to their College Board account.
- If scores are not visible there yet, please reach out to your school counselor, who can often confirm release dates or provide printed reports once available.
Once you have your score report:
- Please send me a screenshot or a copy of your student’s PSAT score report so I can review it with them and help interpret their results.
- You can also use my PSAT/National Merit Calculator here:
👉 Mr. John’s PSAT Selection Index Calculator
This tool helps you gauge where your student might fall compared to last year’s National Merit selection index cutoffs by state. (Most score reports already show the Selection Index, but if not, this will help you estimate it accurately.)
In addition, School Day SAT results for many students will also begin releasing soon, so please keep an eye out for those as well. I'd love to know how you did!
November 8th SAT Final Reminders
For students testing this Saturday, November 8th, here are a few key points as we head into the home stretch:
- Focus on process, not outcome. Remind your student that results follow consistency. Every question deserves clear reasoning — not overthinking the score.
- Don't spend too much time on one question. If it's really tough, and in the second module, it could be an experimental question.
- Review our I-S-E-E and PROVE-IT strategies. Encourage your student to comb through their Google Doc for Reading and Grammar to refresh all strategies and patterns we’ve practiced.
- Get sleep the night before. You know what works best for you. Less stress, more laughter, and good vibes the night before.
- Exercise on test morning — do not skip this! Waking up early to move, stretch, or do a short workout is like a mental cheat code. It boosts alertness, focus, and calm under pressure.
I’m proud of how hard everyone has worked and can’t wait to see the results come in. Please keep me posted with PSAT screenshots and updates from the SAT this weekend!
Warm regards,
Mr. John
